The Pre-Holiday Party

A look back at the final weeks of 2024 at andMédianes a glimpse at upcoming projects for 2025.

That's the end

Hello, everyone,

With just a few hours to go before we close the offices for our end-of-year break, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for another year spent together. This journey wouldn’t be the same without you 💙

With a special shout-out to those who attended our event at Point Éphémère in Paris to celebrate the final season of our podcast, *Chemins*. Many of you came to hear the stories of endings and transitions from Alexandre Coing (co-director of Le Fooding), Sarah Ichou (director of the Bondy Blog), Camélia Kheiredine (freelance journalist, former editor-in-chief of Étiquette on francetv.slash). A big thank you to Marine Slavitch for moderating this roundtable and to Mathilde Carlier for organizing this wonderful evening! We’ll now leave you with the first three episodes of the season to help you take a step back and reflect as the year comes to a close.

Last week, we also celebrated the release of the sixth issue of *Pays* magazine—dedicated to the Cotentin region—at Bar 61 in Paris. A magazine co-founded and supported by us forMédianes the past four years. To pick up a copy or give one as a gift to your loved ones for the holidays (Pays has even created gift certificates!), visit the website.

Like all of you, we’re currently making sure to wrap up the year properly and prepare for 2025. In January, we’ll be especially excited to reconnect with the students at ESJ Lille to help them develop a media outlet, and we look forward to seeing some of you in Brussels to discuss independent media in Europe at the Sphera Media Lab.

We wish you a wonderful holiday season. Take good care of yourselves—and your media.

Enjoy the read,

— Juliette Cahen, Editorial Manager at Médianes

Podcast: Paths, Stories of Endings and Transitions

The new season of *Chemins* explores transitions, unexpected goodbyes, and planned conclusions within newsrooms—or when the end of a project becomes an opportunity to start a new chapter.

How do you say goodbye to a project close to your heart? What happens when a chapter comes to a close? And above all, how do you prepare to write the next one? The guests on this third season of *Chemins* are mostly journalists; several are media executives, while others have founded media outlets. They come from Bondy Blog, Censored, and Fooding. Each of them shares with us their pivotal moments, their strategic choices, and the lessons they’ve learned about resilience in the face of an ending—whether it’s the end of a format, a way of working, or a direction.

Do I have to be funny now?

A few weeks ago, our reporter Marine Slavitch took part in a panel discussion on the role of humor in journalism at the Brittany Press Club in Rennes. Far from being merely superficial, humor can strengthen audience engagement and make news more accessible.

Information and applications.

⟶ Alongside *Le Monde diplomatique*

We are delighted to share with you the start of a new collaboration between our studio and the team at *Le Monde diplomatique*. Over the next few months, we will be working alongside them to support their editorial and digital strategy. To learn more about our services, visit our studio’s website.

⟶ Vert: A Feature in *Libération*
To celebrate the success of their latest fundraising campaign (€200,000), their 6,000 members, and their 5th anniversary, Libération has published an in-depth profile of the team at Vert, an independent, free, and ad-free media outlet that we’ve been proud to support for the past three years in the areas of marketing, communications, web, and design.

⟶ Marketing and Design for Les Jours

This fall, we wrapped up our projects with Les Jours: creating the design for their new editorial newsletter, “Scrountch,” and providing support in strategic and operational marketing—from defining key messages (website, emails, newsletters) to repositioning the publication. Curious to learn more? Take a behind-the-scenes look at our work with them.

⟶ La Disparition Launches La Correspondance

For the past four years, we have been supporting the development of the political epistolary media outlet La Disparition. Today, we are delighted to introduce their new project: La Correspondance. These letters explore topics under attack by the far right—such as feminism, racism, and environmentalism—through writing duos like Kaoutar Harchi and Aurélien Bellanger, or Alice Zeniter. This project was conceived as part of the Program, andMédianes we are serving as its artistic directors.

Got a project?

Marketing, strategy, graphic design, transformation: Do you have a project? An idea? Write to us. In the meantime, we’ll see you on January 16, 2025, for the next edition!
