About Médianes

Launched in 2020, Médianes is a project dedicated to strengthening independent journalism, civic engagement, and media pluralism.
At the intersection of media, digital, and civil society, we support those who deliver free, inclusive, and rigorous information.

We work toward independent journalism by supporting media outlets on editorial, economic, design, management, and technical fronts, to ensure their viability and impact.

Our mission? Help media organizations produce journalism that addresses the major challenges of our time, and monetize it sustainably through their audiences.

The team

For nearly 10 years, we—Marine Doux, Baptiste Thevelein, and Christelle Perrin—have been developing projects at the intersection of entrepreneurship, journalism, and media. In 2020, we founded Médianes with a shared vision and complementary skills. In 2024, the team from the European network Sphera joined us.

Today, there are about twenty of us—journalists, designers, developers, editorial and marketing strategists—based in Paris, Toulouse, Lyon, Marseille, Brittany, and several European cities. We are passionate about sharing information and uphold the ideals of independence and democracy.

Our Values

Feminism, environmentalism, social justice: new voices committed to advocating for a just and sustainable society are making themselves heard. It is essential to listen to them, and enabling them to establish themselves as a lasting presence in the media is a major democratic challenge.

Because many of us no longer see ourselves reflected in current media models—whether in the topics covered or in the strategic, economic, and managerial approaches that have been implemented. It is vital to develop, in parallel, viable and sound models capable of ensuring high-quality journalism that is responsive to its audience.

At Médianes, we make a point of highlighting projects that champion a more inclusive and sustainable society, whether through the values they embody or the business models they promote.

To learn more about our vision and values, please read our manifesto. And if you’d like more information about our editorial and ethical principles, please read our charter.

Our offices

Nos bureaux sont à Paris, dans le 11e arrondissement. Nous les partageons avec d’autres médias, agences et réseaux engagé·es et proches de l’information, et nous nous y retrouvons au complet deux fois par an à l’occasion des séminaires d’équipe.
