The context
Strengthen the share of donations in an independent media outlet's business model.
StreetPress is an independent investigative media outlet committed to countering far-right extremism and discrimination. Since 2021, we have supported them each year in designing and managing their fundraising campaigns. Each campaign is an opportunity to support a new editorial format (FAF, Rixes), to evolve their value proposition (pay-what-you-wish pricing), or to build their community (Club StreetPress launched in 2024, which now brings together over 6,000 regular donors).
We work across the entire system: strategic framework, audience segmentation, page and journey design, engagement mechanics, content and communication plans.
→ In 2019, donations represented a marginal share of the model. In 2023, StreetPress raised €305,500, or 36% of its annual revenue — a now structural lever.
Donation campaigns
Launch of FAF, a newsletter about the far right (2021)
In December 2021, StreetPress launches FAF, a weekly newsletter entirely dedicated to the far right. To fund this new format, the media outlet organizes a fundraising campaign within its community. Médianes intervenes at every stage: strategy definition, text and email writing, contribution to the impact report, etc.
→ Summary: €75,000 raised, against an initial target of €48,000.

Funding for season 2 of the series Rixes (2022)
Rixes is a documentary series about city gang wars, told by the young people and families involved. In summer 2022, StreetPress launches a campaign to fund season 2. Médianes supports the media outlet with strategy, community mobilization, press relations, email tool configuration (content and technical setup), and sponsorship campaign management.
→ Summary: a more challenging campaign run on an external platform (KissKissBankBank), which failed to reach its goal, but allowed us to refine our working methods for future campaigns.
Anchoring free pricing in the economic model (2022)
In autumn 2022, StreetPress launches a fundraising campaign based on the pay-what-you-wish principle. The initial target of €80,000 is exceeded, with €100,000 raised. Médianes supports the team in building the system: membership mechanics, mobilization workshops for ambassadors, content strategy, creation of a fake paywall, database extraction, graphic and technical monitoring, direct mail campaigns, sponsorship, press release writing…
→ Summary: 125% of target achieved, with strong community engagement.

Launch of a collaborative platform on far-right extremism (2023)
In late 2023, StreetPress launched a collaborative platform for reporting far-right events, venues, activists and groups. Two phases shaped the campaign: a pre-acquisition phase to recruit new donors, followed by a public communication phase. Médianes handled the entire strategy: strategic framing, key message writing, newsletter distribution, Donorbox platform management, content sponsorship, and daily support.
→ Summary: €185,000 raised, against an initial target of €100,000.
StreetPress Club Launch (2024)
In autumn 2024, StreetPress reaches a new milestone with the launch of the StreetPress Club. Goal: bring together 6,000 regular donors to ensure the stability of the model. Médianes co-designs the entire initiative: strategy, page design, engagement mechanics, campaign management, communication, and tracking tools.
→ Summary : objective achieved. This club now embodies a solid, tangible, lasting foundation with direct ties to the community

Technical Implementation
Structure donation management and professionalize donor relations
Since the beginning of our partnership, Médianes has supported StreetPress in building out its donation strategy toolkit. This includes implementing and integrating tools (Donorbox, Sendinblue), audience segmentation, CRM configuration, and journey automation.
As part of funding from the Free Press Fund (FPL), we helped structure the donor database and tailor communications based on profiles (readers, prospects, donors). Objective: grow recurring donations and build loyalty within a sustainable community.
